Bushfield is no longer a bed and breakfast and has been converted to a private residence. If you’d like to visit this area we suggest the Steamboat Inn a short distance away. Bushfield Manor
is a 22 room Georgian Mansion, c. 1751 and 1916, which occupies a splendid location overlooking the Potomac River, Buckner Creek, and Nomini Bay. The Bushrods orginially patented the land in 1665 and it was held in his family until the mid 1700's when Bushfield heiress, Hannah Bushrod married John Augustine Washington, brother to George Washington. Their son, Bushrod Washington, a juror on the U.S. Supreme Court, was born and raised at Bushfield. Bushfield has been listed with the NATIONAL REGISTER OF HISTORIC PLACES & VIRGINIA LANDMARK REGISTER. Click here for full nomination. After a visionary restoration and conversion by Gene and Judith Conner, Bushfield became the home of Bobbie
and Dan Elam in 2007. We’re updating this website. For more information please visit www.elams.org. |
